I purchased my 1998 748 BP in April 04 after trading in a Kawasaki
Ninja 636B1H (03) model. I looked at as many 748's as I could find and
read as much as I could about them before deciding on this one from
Moto Rapido in Winchester (top people). It's the best decision I've
ever made. The Kwak had the legs on the 748 in a straight line but in
corners it's a completely different story. The duke is so much more
stable and inspires confidence. It will flatter an average rider and
reward a good one.

I'm amazed that people think they are uncomfortable the 748 is a much
better riding position that the Ninja and probably as good as most Jap
race rep 600's these days.
Also in these days of sub 170 kilo radial braked 600's the brakes on
the 748 are a revelation as strong as the radial types but with more
feel.

You can spend the same as a small countries GDP on a Ducati if you feel
the need, but the great thing about them is you don't really have to
spend anything. Most owners automatically spend on a Jap bike to give
them a bit of character with exhaust cans, dampers etc, the Duke has it
all as standard. And it all works together as a complete package.

Bearing in mind that a mint 748 can be yours now for around £4 - 5 K
there really isn't any excuse to join what was once an exclusive club.
Give one a try for yourself and you'll understand the appeal. There
really hasn't been a better time to get a bargain.
