MY VIEWS by PMANCINON

I own a  1998 748 Monoposto.  The 748/916/966 remains, for me anyway, to be
the most beautiful motorcycle.  I can't reach the bike's potential, and never
will.  The engine at full song is as good as it gets.  The bike is a little
loud in appearance (mine is yellow), but make no mistake, the bike is the
Daddy.  For years now, every magazine, without fail, has done tests with
newer bikes that have "knocked the 916 off its pedestal."  For example, the
RSV Mille.  Then the R-1. But at the introduction of the SP-1, instead of
comparing it to the RSV or the R-1, all tests are to compare it to the 996.
What does that tell you.

And the bike is very, very reliable.  Does it need more maintenance?  Yes.
But it is one of the few things I actually enjoy spending money on.  Even for
maintenance!
